The Polynesians carved the Tiki in the image of man. It was placed in their homes as a reminder that there is one greater than human.
It was believed that various Gods, had power to rule over the sky, water, land and the underground. They worshipped and honored these Gods and believed to be their guardian.
The tiki was carved as representation of these Gods. They believed by worshipping them, they will be protected, it will bring unity, peace and tranquility to their families and people.
