Description
Symbolizes good luck and protection in the ocean.
The whale’s tail was of great help for the Polynesians, it would help guide them to an abundant amount of fish. Before the fisherman would leave the land, they would look out to sea, hoping to sight the whale’s tail. If they spotted a whale’s tail, they would follow it and find an abundant amount of fish. But, if they did not see a whale’s Tail, they would not fish, for they knew it would not be a good day to fish.
